🐾 Why In-Home Luxury Pet Care?

Boarding facilities can be stressful for many dogs. These environments often include constant barking, limited personal space, and frequent group play with little opportunity for true rest or decompression. While dogs may appear “tired” when they return home, this exhaustion is often the result of overstimulation rather than healthy, balanced engagement.

Although boarding facilities work hard to prevent conflict, they typically cannot provide individualized guidance around obedience, impulse control, or respectful play dynamics—skills that help dogs navigate social situations more safely and confidently over time.

With in-home overnight care, your dog remains in a familiar environment where their daily routines, boundaries, and comfort are preserved. As a trained animal handler and registered veterinary technician, I provide fully supervised care that supports both your dog’s mental and physical well-being. Throughout the stay, calm behavior, structured movement, and thoughtful interactions are reinforced—ensuring your dog’s needs are met without unnecessary stress.

The result? You come home to a dog who is relaxed, confident, and emotionally balanced, not overwhelmed or shut down.

Overnight Care

  • This service is in your home with me accompanied by my service dog. I ensure all meetings with your pack are first through on leashed walks, building a calm relationship before we enter the home together.

    All interactions between dogs are fully supervised and managed so that dogs have a balanced play dynamic. On our pack walks we work basic obedience, impulse control training through mealtimes, leaving and entering the home, and receiving attention and play from me.

    What’s Included:

    Overnight stay in your home, when I am there for the night you are my only client.

  • Boarding facilities and traditional doggy daycares are often not the right fit for many dogs. These environments can be highly overstimulating, offering little true downtime, which may increase stress and elevate cortisol levels. Traditional dog sitting service typically ensure you pet is not alone and safe, but often dogs do not receive the proper stimulation mentally and physically.

    At High Sierra Canine Care, my approach is different. Rather than managing chaos, my goal is to teach dogs that calm behavior is what earns access to everything they love—movement, food, play, affection, and adventure. Throughout your dog’s stay, we intentionally practice calm, respectful behaviors that translate into safer interactions and more confident and well mannered companions at home and in the world.

    This includes:

    Proper, structured introductions to other dogs

    Waiting calmly for meals and release cues before eating

    Pausing at thresholds such as doors and gates before exiting or entering

    Taking turns for affection and play to prevent conflict

    Closely monitored play to ensure balanced, respectful interactions

    Interrupting pushy or dominant behaviors before they escalate

    Throughout the stay, we continuously reinforce foundational obedience skills—sit, stay, and down—whether we’re on the trail, on a walk, or relaxing at home.

    🐾 Daily Schedule

    Morning (AM):

    2-hour adventure hike

    Off-leash manners (or long-line as appropriate)

    Recall training incorporated throughout the hike

    Rest, decompression, and nap time

    📸 Daily Updates

    You’ll receive morning and evening photos and/or videos each day so you can see how your dog is doing and enjoying their routine.

    🧼 Departure Day Home Care

    On the final day of your stay, the following are included:

    60-minute vacuum or sweep of main living areas

    Bedding placed in the wash and replaced.

    Light cleaning of all used spaces
